7 Pointers For Starting With a VA

I have 7 pointers/tips for working with an assistant that I WISH someone told me when I first started.

Let me save you the time so you can get off to a GREAT start with yours!

1. Be precise and clear in your instructions

Your virtual assistant is here to help, but you have to communicate and set expectations with them. Make sure your expectations are well-communicated to avoid potential frustration or misunderstanding.

2. Utilize your virtual assistant for a variety of tasks.

From managing your calendar to responding to client questions, a virtual assistant can significantly reduce your workload. Don't limit their potential by restricting them to mundane tasks. Be seeking ways you can expand their skillset so that they can provide even more value to you.

3. Establish a communication routine.

It might be daily check-ins or weekly summaries, but you must establish a communication flow with your assistant to stay updated on progress and address any issues.

4. Share your tools and systems.

Whether it's a project management tool, scheduling software, or communication platform, ensure your virtual assistant can access the tools you commonly use and become proficient in using them.

5. Provide regular and consistent feedback.

Like any working relationship, ongoing feedback is critical. It helps your virtual assistant know you better and how they can best support you in your business.

6. Leverage their unique expertise.

Many virtual assistants bring a wealth of knowledge and skills. Use their expertise to suggest ways to improve processes or tackle tasks more efficiently.

7. Foster an environment of trust and respect.

Building a strong working relationship with your virtual assistant is based on trust and respect. Acknowledge their contributions and get to know them personally! Lead with empathy.
